It’s an exciting opportunity to engage directly with the people who are at the heart of the WeGrow project. On September 23 – October 11, 2024, Ghana witnessed the official launch of the eArziki community financial management app, a transformative moment for the country’s agricultural and community finance sectors. The launch, part of the broader WeGrow project, is not just a technological milestone but a powerful step toward digitalising agriculture and empowering local communities. eArziki provides a secure, user-friendly platform designed to meet the unique financial needs of VSLA (Village Savings and Loan Association) groups. By streamlining the management of loans, savings, and transactions, the app aims to enhance economic growth and financial inclusion.

In Ghana, we are getting people online, so that they can tap into opportunities you and I take for granted. This includes climate information such as weather forecasts – and so much more.
However, we faced a challenge in Ghana: Few were willing to invest in a smartphone. In response, we developed a “revolving fund” model whereby people can take loans to buy a smartphone at below-market rates.
Unlike our VSLA model, this model can also be used for larger loans. Above all, it’s commercially scalable. In theory, the model could be used to unlock access to any climate solution developed by CARE Denmark.
